Join The HWBTA

Thank you for your interest in the Home Wine & Beer Trade Association, the only international educational, non-profit organization dedicated to the growth of home brewing and wine making trade. Membership is open only to licensed retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers having a legitimate commercial interest in the trade. Apply now.

HWBTA members benefit from a variety of opportunities:

  • Only HWBTA members can participate in the annual wine competition. This is a great tool to promote your store and stand out among your competition. As a member of the HWBTA your customers are eligible to enter their wines in the annual HWBTA wine competition. This international amateur wine competition draws between 200 to 300 entries every year and is open only to contestants sponsored by HWBTA member shops.
  • Members receive discounted conferences fees. HWBTA conferences are proven to pay for themselves many times over. Many HWBTA retailers have benefited from ideas shared at the conferences which have generated thousands of dollars in extra profits. Seminars cover every aspect of home beverage retailing such as finding new profit centers, successful marketing campaigns, and increasing sales from existing customers. Annual conferences also provide a unique opportunity to meet with others from the field and share new ideas to help increase your profits. Trade show exhibitors include ingredient manufacturers, distributors, and equipment manufacturers. Recent shows have been held in Niagara Falls, Ontario, New Orleans, Louisiana, San Francisco and Vancouver, British Columbia. Our next conference will be held June 10-13, 2006 in St. Catharines, Ontario.
  • The retailer membership fee of $100.00 is tax deductible and good for 12 months from the time you join.
  • Your store will be listed in the "Find A Retailer" locator service on the HWBTA web site.
  • The HWBTA is listed as a store referral in many publications. One referral more than pays the membership fee.
  • You will receive a FREE copy of The Advocate, our official trade publication which keeps you up to date with new products, new ideas, new marketing angles and a whole lot more. It is filled with specific information about YOUR industry. Your membership supports the HWBTA -- help keep it strong.  You can download the latest copy:  http://www.brewingnews.com/pdfproofs/hwbta/Advocate%20Feb%202008.pdf
  • The HWBTA is the ONLY voice for beer and wine retailers in our industry, and a strong HWBTA can use its voice to campaign for your interests.
  • Your membership certificate displayed proudly in your store gives you credibility with your customers, and a trade association membership makes you look more professional.

But, the #1 reason to join the HWBTA: TO HELP YOUR BUSINESS! An informed retailer is a successful retailer. Don't listen to the naysayer who tells you it's a waste of money. This is the same person who tells you they "can't afford to advertise". The most successful retailers are part of the HWBTA.

We think you would find membership in the HWBTA beneficial and well worth the annual dues of $100.00.
